| Vineyard & Cellar | Ried Himmel Maurerberg here is wine growing since the Middle Ages. The term sky indicates a high area. These ÖTW Erste Lage share grapes from Grüner Veltliner, Burgundy, Riesling, Neuburger, Muskat Sylvaner, Traminer, Zierfandler, Rotgipfler. |
| Vintage | A rather cooler winter was followed by a cool April – May and June showed an early summer friendliness. The precipitation was rare and not very extensive and so we came in rather hot summer with little rain but some thunderstorms rescued the vines through the summer. September, however, was unusually cold with some heavy rainfall, which fortunately had a very positive effect on the vines, as well as on the quality of the grapes. The harvest was thus pulled apart much more and ended in mid-October with very high quality both in white wine, as well as red wine, lighter wines, as well as rich layered wines. The vintage 2017 shines with intense fruit and ripe acidity. |
| Soil | About 16 million years ago, the underground vineyards formed from the Limestone Alps. The soils consist mainly of dolomite with überuas high lime content. The limestone Alps are overlaid by shell limestone. In the dolomite, deposits of marl are found mainly on the lower slope. |
